Requirements
GuangDong Cable Network boasts one of the most advanced network architectures in China. To deliver TV and data services to the largest number of subscribers quickly, GuangDong Cable Network employs a “Multi-Technology Mixed” approach for network expansion. While this strategy offers time and cost savings during deployment, it also increases the complexity of managing diverse technologies and collaborating with various vendors. To expedite GPON/EPON deployments, GuangDong Cable Network requires a more automated provisioning process, replacing the previous labor-intensive methods.
Solution Delivery
To meet this requirement, GuangDong Cable Network has deployed PBN netCommand in 20 cities for automatic configuration of its FTTH network. Starting in 2018, PBN successfully completed the third phase of GuangDong Cable Network’s FTTH configuration system. By the end of 2023, the number of automatically configured terminals through PBN netCommand exceeded 2.3 million, including ONUs, network gateways, EoC gateways, and optical gateways.
This deployment has transformed the business provisioning model from “manual configuration” to “automatic configuration” and unified the management of multiple business types under GuangDong Cable Network’s EPON/GPON technology system. It has also addressed overall VLAN planning issues, reduced the troubleshooting workload for installation and maintenance personnel, and improved their efficiency.
