Bill Zhang is a foundational member of the Pacific Broadband Networks. He joined the company as an engineer in 1990, it was before PBN was formalized by Pacific Dunlop Limited as a specialized broadband group in 1994. One year after PBN’s formal establishment, Bill helped expand PBN’s presence in China, which became one of the most important markets for the company. In 1997, he participated in the management buy-out shifting PBN to a private standalone company and became a member of the core management team. Bill’s career has grown as PBN has developed and is deeply invested in the company. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors and the CEO. Under his management, PBN has built a stable and competent management team and is set for its continuous growth.

Before his time in Australia, Bill was selected for a competitive and prestigious work-study program in aerospace during the 1980s. His undergraduate studies at Harbin Engineering University paired with his MBA from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business gave Bill both the technical expertise and knowledge in business to help shape the structure and culture of the company.

Michael has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia for over 38 years. He is a Registered Company Auditor and Registered Tax Agent. Michael started his accounting career with Price Waterhouse in 1970, where he spent 4 years in accounting, taxation and corporate and 2 years involving audits dealing with private and public companies. In 1976 he joined a second tier firm specializing in taxation planning and compliance. In 1978, he established his own practice focusing on management accounting, tax planning, and investment advice for family businesses and professional practices. In 2005, the practice was sold to a second tier firm and in 2006 he re-established his practice as a Sole Practitioner.

For over 30 years he has specialised in business and taxation planning, management consulting, restructuring, business valuations, business acquisitions, mergers, and sales. He has almost 35 years of business and accounting experience. He participates on the advisory board for a number of clients ranging from property developers, manufacturers and technology businesses, and financial services providers.

Gus was an Executive Director at Telstra before his retirement in 2014. Over his 37 years career at Telstra, he has held a number of leadership positions in Strategy and Operational Line management. As Investment Manager for Consumer Division, Gus had a role in writing the Business Case for Telstra’s Pay TV network and established the roll-out program for Australian HFC – an early link with PBN!

Gus held the position of Head of Commercial Operations for Telstra Services where he led a team driving a major transformation in the structure, processes and efficiency of Telstra’s nearly 20, 000 field operations staff. Gus next took up the role as Chief of Operations of Telstra’s Engineering, IT and Products Division, managing planning, resourcing and programme delivery for that Division. This was followed by some 6 years as the Executive responsible for Telstra’s Investment Management Council directing a $4 billion per annum capital Investment program.

Over the period 2008 to 2011, Gus was responsible for leading Telstra’s Transition Program Office for NBN. This role covered strategic planning; engineering design, IT transition as well as establishing processes, systems and training for Telstra staff to ensure Telstra could operate and compete on the NBN. Nearly $1 billion of investments were made under the governance of the NBN Transition. In his last two years with Telstra, Gus led the development of Telstra’s 5 year Operating strategy as the company moved into an IP environment.

Gus retired from Telstra following successfully gaining the support of the Telstra Board to the strategy. Gus previously served as an advisor to PBN for three years between 2014 and 2016. Over the past two years Gus has been working as a Board member of the Telstra Historical Society to establish a Technology museum in Melbourne, Victoria as well as undertaking volunteer Board duties with the Living the Dream foundation. He now joins PBN as a director.

Jeffrey brings over 25 years of senior finance executive experience in multinationals including Hutchison Whampoa, Royal Dutch Shell and Triumph International Group. He specialized in Greater China finance in early 1990s and then from 2003 further extended his coverage to Southeast Asia, Australia-New Zealand, India-Sri Lanka and parts of Europe and Africa. Apart from finance he has also held senior roles in sales & marketing and general management hence a wide scope of expertise in the commercial field.

Throughout his career he has been instrumental in setting up joint ventures in China, establishing manufacturing and retail operations in Asia, starting up sales & marketing, conducting mergers & acquisitions, process reengineering, systems implementation, internal control enhancement, corporate reorganization, building shared service centre and corporate strategic development. He has been actively involved in the full value chain from innovation, design, manufacturing and supply chain, to brand management, wholesaling, retailing and front-end sales. He has innovative expertise in online-to-offline and unified commerce along with strategic management, financial planning and management reporting. He leverages on relationship with audit firms, banks, financiers, lawyers, and authorities for the growing enterprises ecosystem.

Jeffrey is a fellow member of CPA Australia, HKICPA, CIMA and CGMA. He was educated in Australia with an accounting degree and an MBA. He was past President of CPA Australia Greater China Division in 2016, past Chairman of its Corporate Sector Committee and is currently a Councillor of the Divisional Council. He is an appointed Accounting Specialist Advisor to the PRC Ministry of Finance and is also a member of the Accounting Committee of the Council for the Promotion of Guangdong-HK-Macao Cooperation.

Bob is the SVP of Sales, with responsibility for all direct sales and reseller functions, focusing on growing strategic customer accounts and partner relationships.

With over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications, cable and FTTx industries, Bob provides PBN with a highly experienced lead for our business.

In previous roles, Bob had managed Sales, PLM and R&D focused teams, resulting in a full appreciation of the end-to-end lifecycle requirements that are important to customers for network deployment and ongoing operational success.

Having worked with major operators worldwide, Bob has insight into the key commercial and technical objectives required by operators to succeed and how PBN can facilitate for these objectives to be met.

His proactive approach to business development brings value and experience to our Europe and Global Sales team.

Bob holds both Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Science degrees from the University of Dundee.

Born in Dundee, Scotland, Bob has called Cambridge home for the last 20 years.

Kevin has been working in the video and broadband access industry over 20 years. He holds an MBA from University of Durham UK, and degree of EE Engineering from University of Liverpool UK. Before joining PBN, he worked for multiple leading telco and equipment suppliers, such as Hong Kong Telecom, Motorola – Broadband Communication Sector, and Cisco Systems. He worked in different positions during that period, such as pre-sales engineer, pre-sales manager, product manager, business development manager, etc

Kevin joined PBN in 2017 as senior director of sales of Asia Pacific. He has helped the company to expand the broadband transmission equipment business in Asia Pacific. Starting from 2018, apart from handling the sales activities in Asia Pacific, Kevin has also been responsible for PBN’s software product strategy. He has deeply involved in the software roadmap formulation, working hand in hand with software development team and global sales team to handle customer feature request, RFP response, etc.

Leon serves as the Senior Vice President of Operations, driving PBN’s global operational strategies and ensuring alignment with directives from the Board and CEO. His journey with PBN began in 2011, initially as the Marketing Manager, where he orchestrated successful branding initiatives and represented PBN at trade shows, effectively amplifying the company’s presence.

Throughout his tenure, Leon has held various roles and worked in diverse projects, each contributing substantially to PBN’s global revenue growth from 2014 to 2018. Before assuming his current role, Leon held the position of Vice President of Product, overseeing the entire product lifecycle from initial requirement definition to post-sales support, ensuring seamless customer experiences.

Before joining PBN, Leon served as an in-house consultant for a prominent media group in Beijing, China. Additionally, he gained experience as a Software Engineer at a European-based IT consulting firm in Taiwan.

Leon’s multicultural background, having lived in Taipei, Spain, the USA, China, and Australia, enriches his perspective and positions him as a versatile and globally adept professional. He holds an MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain, further enhancing his strategic acumen and leadership capabilities.

Frank has nearly 20 years of experiences working in telecommunications and holds a Master degree of Communication and Information Systems from Peking University. Frank started his career at the Potevio Institute of Technology where he focused on WCDMA BTS and TD-SCDMA NodeB developments. He then went on to work in Panasonic’s R&D center to develop wireless transceivers and digital television systems. In 2011, Frank joined PBN as Director of Hardware Engineering, where he was responsible for moving the R&D center from Melbourne, Australia to Beijing, China. He has headed efforts to develop and produce PBN’s HFC platform, optical nodes, DOCSIS, and EPON products. Frank currently focuses on access network systems for both wireless and cabled communications. Frank is also the think tank of PBN’s Distributed Access Architecture and his team is working on innovative products and solutions to facilitate MSOs’ migration to digital access networks. Under Frank’s leadership, PBN developed a world-class optical HFC platform – AIMA3000 as well as PBN’s latest outside plant access platform – PRIMA.

With over 30 years of extensive experience, Marcelo is a distinguished authority in the telecommunications, cable, and FTTH sectors. His professional footprint extends across Peru, Argentina, and Brazil, where he imparts his insights to industry peers through various engagements.

Joining PBN in 2018, Marcelo has directed his efforts toward market development in the CALA region, overseeing and successfully delivering numerous standout projects. Notable among these are specialized HFC initiatives for Argentina’s leading MSO and pivotal PON project in Mexico, among others.

Marcelo holds a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from ENET in Argentina, augmented by a specialization in Digital TV Systems and Optical Networks from INATEL in Brazil. Complementing his academic prowess, Marcelo has been an active member of the SCTE – CALA Chapter board since 2014.

Originally hailing from Mar del Plata, Argentina, Marcelo has called Rio de Janeiro, Brazil home for the past 27 years, fostering a rich intercultural background that enhances his professional perspective.

Vicky Fan joined PBN as an accountant in 2003, she has been with the company for nearly 20 years. Coping with the company’s business needs, she is now responsible for PBN Global HRS and Operations. Over the years, to support PBN’s rapid business expansion, she also participated in the whole process of establishment and relocation of PBN’s factory in Tianjin, China, which equipped with the most modern production equipment in industry. Leveraging her rich experiences in Finance, HRS and Management, Vicky plays an important role in the development of PBN.

Vicky has obtained a bachelor’s degree in Accounting Management from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and a master’s degree in HRS Management from University of International Business and Economics.
