In October 2014 Energie AG Oberösterreich officially launched its broadband initiative for residential customers using its FTTH (fiber to the home) infrastructure. Leveraging active and passive equipment from Pacific Broadband Networks (PBN), Energie AG Oberösterreich Data GmbH currently offers bandwidth up to 300 Mbps through its unique fiber backbone in upper Austria. In the target areas, triple play services are offered via GEPON technology leveraging DVB-IP via Multicast for the TV services. A fiber is deployed into every subscriber’s home delivering real fiber to the home.

"Pacific Broadband Networks convinced with an attractive one-stop-solution bundled with experience in the green field roll-out. PBN has proven an effective and straight-forward approach in deploying the solution into our residential customer segment.”

——Manfred Litzlbauer, CEO

“At present, we are capable to offer synchronous bandwidth up to 1 Gbps to our end-users, which also allows us to serve commercial customers on top of the currently targeted residential users. The IEEE GEPON technology also allows us to smoothly upgrade to 10 Gbps to serve larger enterprises through our infrastructure in the future.”
